Invocation

 श्री गणेशाय नमः

śrī gaṇeśāya namaḥ

गजाननं भूतगणाधिसेवितं
कपित्थजम्बूफलसारभक्षितम् ।
उमासुतं शोकविनाशकारणं
नमामि विघ्नेश्वरपादपङ्कजम् ॥
gajānanaṃ bhūtagaṇādhisevitaṁ
kapittha-jambū-phala-sāra-bhakṣitam
umāsutaṁ śokavināśakāraṇaṁ
namāmi vighneśvara-pāda-paṅkajam

I bow to the lotus-feet of the lord who removes obstructions, the elephant-faced one, attended by hosts of ghosts, who eats the best of the kapittha (wood-apple) and jambū (rose apple) fruits, the son of Umā, who brings about the destruction of suffering.

गजानन - gajānana - elephant-faced
भूतगण - bhūtagaṇa - host of bhūtas (multitude of ghosts)
अधिसेवितम् - adhisevitaṁ - attended by
फलसार - phala-sāra - best part of the fruit
भक्षितम् - bhakṣitam - fed
उमासुतम् - umāsutam - son of Umā
शोकविनाश - śokavināśa - sorrow-destruction
कारणम् - kāraṇam - cause
नमामि - namāmi - I bow
विघ्नेश्वर - vighneśvara - obstruction-lord
पादपङ्कजम् - pāda-paṅkajam - lotus-feet
